Jeff Gillman, Ph.D. has served as director of the UNC Charlotte Botanical Gardens since 2015. He holds a master’s degree in entomology and a Ph.D. in horticulture from the University of Georgia. Gillman is known for his outreach work and bringing the world of plants to people. He is the author of five books on gardening and the environment, is a Contributing Editor to Fine Gardening Magazine, and has appeared on such shows as Martha Stewart and Growing a Greener World. In 2018, Jeff was awarded the Cynthia Westcott scientific writing award, presented by Garden Communicators International, recognizing his efforts to communicate scientific ideas, concepts and findings related to horticulture and gardening to the everyday gardener.
